Melrose Kiwi Concept Chairs
Client: Melrose Kiwi Concept Chairs
Sector: Custom Mobility / Engineering / Manufacturing
Location: Christchurch, New Zealand
Film Type: Brand Story / Corporate Film
Overview
Melrose Kiwi Concept Chairs is a Christchurch-based manufacturer of custom mobility chairs, proudly celebrating over three decades of Kiwi-designed, Kiwi-made solutions. Their engineering ethos is rooted in precision, innovation and real-world usability — “it’s all designed and fabricated here at Melrose Kiwi Concept Chairs”. Facebook+1
I was commissioned to create a film that would showcase the heart of the brand: the people, the manufacturing craft, the innovation and the users. The goal: communicate not just what Melrose makes, but why it matters.
The Approach
Filming at their Christchurch factory: capturing engineers at work, custom fabrication, testing rigs, the full build-process.
Interviews with team members and users exploring the design principle: e.g., “I just wanted to design the frame of the chair so you can lift it across you so it doesn’t get caught in the steering wheel when you’re lifting it in.” Vimeo
Visual storytelling emphasising “Kiwi-made”, local craft, and bespoke manufacturing.
Use of B-roll: frames of welders, machining, testing, finished chairs in action.
Colour grading and motion-graphics to match brand aesthetic, reinforce legacy “30 years” story.
Produced a brand film, plus shorter cut-downs for digital and trade show use.
Planning something similar? Let’s talk.

Outcome
The film positions Melrose Kiwi Concept Chairs as not only experts in mobility engineering but also as a heritage Kiwi manufacturer capable of innovation and custom craftsmanship.
Their "30 years in business" milestone and “Kiwi made” branding become the narrative backbone. Instagram+1
