Overview

After successfully delivering two films (heavy machinery + sponsored motocross event), I started working with TransDiesel when they were still operating under their original brand. We built trust quickly, developing a shared passion for storytelling and a clear rhythm in how we approach their video content.

As TDX evolved into one of New Zealand’s most recognisable machinery brands, our work together expanded — covering everything from brand stories and technical explainers to product launches, training material, and long-form testimonial content.
Today, TDX is one of my longest-standing and most enjoyable relationships.

The Approach

Every project with TDX is different, and each environment presents its own challenges — construction sites, quarries, workshops, forestry, and active operational zones.

Health and safety is a major part of the work. TDX teams are incredibly busy and incredibly generous with their time, so the filmmaking approach needs to be:

  • flexible

  • fast

  • respectful of operational constraints

  • reactive to weather, machinery, and production windows

I keep the crew footprint small, work closely with site managers, and adjust shot lists on the fly to maximise the time we have with operators and machines. Across the years this rhythm has allowed us to film efficiently, safely, and with genuine respect for their people.

Key films created with TDX:

  • 40 Years of TransDiesel

  • On the Job – Volvo Series

  • Ask Rob – Shell Oil Educational

  • TDX Bearded

  • Shell RIM Oil
