Kia ora — I’m John-Jo.

I’m a Dunedin-based filmmaker helping New Zealand businesses tell stronger stories.
I work across the South Island and beyond — from heavy industry and construction to science, technology, councils, and adventure tourism.

I care about story, people, craft, and making sure every project delivers value.

Values

Make the world a better place

Good stories build understanding and connection.

Always do the best work possible

If my name is on it, I’m giving everything I’ve got.

Don’t be a dick

Treat people with respect, be straight up, and look after the team.

My Story

I started my career on the snow as an instructor, then moved into filmmaking, built a B-Corp certified video production company in Christchurch, and eventually shifted my life and work to Dunedin.

I’ve worked with organisations across Aotearoa — CRIs, councils, trade businesses, tech companies, and tourism operators — and I love learning new industries and finding the human angle in every story.

Approach

My process is simple:

  1. Listen and understand

  2. Shape the story

  3. Film with intention

  4. Edit for clarity and emotion

  5. Deliver clean, high-quality assets in all required formats

Personal Note

I’m a dad, a diver, a snow-sports guy, and someone who loves filming the South Island’s landscapes and people.
If you want a filmmaker who can handle everything from documentary-style shoots to highly technical industrial environments, I’m your guy.
