FAQs

What kind of videos do you make?

I specialise in brand stories, construction and civil projects, recruitment films, corporate documentaries, lifestyle pieces, aerial cinematography, and long-form storytelling.
If it needs heart, clarity, or cinematic visuals — I’m your guy.

Where are you based?

I’m based in Dunedin, originally from Christchurch, and I film all over New Zealand — South Island, North Island, remote sites, mines, farms, factories… you name it.

Do you travel?

Yep.
Most of my work involves travel — TDX, Road Metals, Allied Petroleum, Moore Construction, CAMEX, VetPlus, and many others.
I travel with a compact pro kit and can scale up with crew when needed.

How much do your videos cost?

Every project is different, but most fall into these ranges:

  • $4,000–$9,000 for simple projects or single-location shoots

  • $10,000–$25,000+ for multi-day, multi-location productions

  • Documentaries / large-scale brand films vary depending on scope and timelines

If you have a budget in mind, I can tailor a plan that fits.

How long does a video take to make?

Typical timelines:

  • Simple project: 1–2 weeks

  • Brand story / multi-day shoot: 3–6 weeks

  • Complex / multi-location project: 6–12+ weeks

I’ve also done extreme fast turnarounds, like WasteCo’s NZX listing video which I delivered in 4 days from first meeting to final master.

Do you work alone or with a team?

Both.
Most brand films I direct and shoot myself, but for bigger projects I bring in:

  • Additional camera operators

  • Drone crew

  • Sound recordists

  • Producers

  • Script or creative support

You get a scalable crew depending on your needs.

Do you write scripts and plan the story?

Yes.
Scriptwriting, storyboarding, interviews, location prep, research — it’s all part of the service.
The goal is always to tell the right story, not just “make a video.”

Can you help with strategy?

Absolutely.
I often help clients:

  • Define their message

  • Decide what content they need

  • Structure campaigns

  • Identify the right audience

  • Make the video work across both internal and external channels

I’ve done this for TDX, CAMEX, McKenzie Global, Allied Petroleum, VetPlus and more.

Do you offer aerial/drone filming?

Yes — fully certified with years of drone experience, including:

  • Construction sites

  • Machinery operations

  • Infrastructure

  • Rural landscapes

  • Urban environments

  • Coastal + mountainous areas

I’ve flown everything from Queenstown to Auckland Harbour Bridge (fully compliant with Part 101 rules).

Can you deliver vertical (9:16) and horizontal (16:9) versions?

Yep.
Penske is a good example — I delivered both formats.
I can also supply square, banner, social cut-downs and still frames.

How do revisions work?

Most projects include two rounds of revisions.
I’m flexible — the goal is always to get the film exactly where it needs to be.

Do you provide raw footage?

Yes, if requested.
I can supply:

  • Raw footage

  • B-roll libraries

  • Graded stills

  • Edited sequences for future use

(Additional editing/formatting fees may apply depending on the amount.)

Can you film interviews?

Yes — it’s one of my strengths.
Two-camera interviews, professional audio, lighting, and clean backgrounds.
I often coach talent to help them relax and speak naturally.

Do you have backup gear?

Always.
I run redundant recording options, backup cameras, backup audio, backup drives and parallel storage workflows.

Can you help with distribution?

Yes — I can export versions optimised for:

  • Websites

  • YouTube

  • LinkedIn

  • Recruitment platforms

  • Internal training

  • Digital screens

  • Events

  • Broadcast (if needed)
