MOVOLT – BRAND STORY

Overview
Movolt is a New Zealand technology company working at the intersection of power systems, engineering and smart industrial solutions. They approached me to create a brand-story film that would introduce who they are, what they do, and — most importantly — why their work matters.
The challenge was to communicate highly technical innovation in a way that felt human, concise and visually engaging. I was responsible for the full end-to-end execution:
writing the script, directing the film, shooting the visuals and delivering the final edit.
The result is a bold, fast-paced brand piece that positions Movolt as a forward-thinking, practical and New Zealand-built technology brand.
The Approach
1. Story & Script Development
I worked with the Movolt team to distill their values, mission and technical capabilities into a simple three-act story structure:

The technology and human expertise behind it
The impact for customers and industry
2. Visual Style
The visual direction was built around clean engineering environments, controlled lighting, sharp macro details and high-contrast industrial textures.
We mixed:
Slow-motion machine operation
Macro detail shots of components
Clean cinematic interviews
Real-world application footage
Aerials to show environmental context
3. Production
Filming took place around Movolt’s workshop, on job sites and in practical environments where their systems are built and used.
This kept the story grounded in real people, real tools, real work — avoiding staged clichés.
4. Editing & Post
I handled all post-production including:
Picture edit
Colour grade (neutral cinematic grade)
Sound design with industrial textures
Motion-graphics overlays for technical clarity
Cut-downs for social media + website
Clean delivery for the brand launch..
The Outcome
The final brand story film gives Movolt a strong visual identity — modern, confident and engineered. It communicates their purpose quickly and clearly, helping clients understand not only what Movolt builds, but why they matter.
